Chimneypiece Tablet
Attributed to Henry Cheere (1703 - 1781).
An old friend.
Sold by me to dealer Nigel Bartlett in about 1988
Sold by Christies Lot 159 in the Nigel Bartlett sale of 14 September 2005.
25 x 22 cms.
The surface is slightly weathered and when sold by me it was still in an uncleaned condition with small amounts of lichen on the surface - it had obviously been in a garden but thankfully in an sheltered position, but the quality shone through.
It appears to have had a gentle cleaning but to have been left unwaxed.
Something of a bargain given the price that some inferior tablets made in the Will Fisher - Jamb sale of 2 February 2012.
Be aware that the value of your investments can go down as well as up!
